Join Award-Winning Filmmaker for Screening, Discussion of ‘East of Liberty’

Gentrification, race and class will be the focus of an upcoming campus screening of the film East of Liberty and panel discussion with award-winning filmmaker and Pittsburgh native Chris Ivey.

The documentary is comprised of a series of short films that explore issues of race and class, and address residents’ fears about gentrification in Pittsburgh’s East Liberty neighborhood. Ivey’s series has been used to engage students in a timely debate and discussion about urban redevelopment, gentrification and related social and economic issues.

The East of Liberty screening, which is free and open to the public, will be held Thursday, Sept. 28, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on the fourth floor of the Union.
