What have Drs. Joseph McCormick, Pamela Walck, and Lucia Osa-Melero been up to?

Dr. Joseph McCormick, associate professor and chair of biological sciences, Bayer School of Natural and Environmental Sciences, recently had a manuscript he co-authored titled A Mechanism for FtsZ-Independent Proliferation in Streptomyces accepted for publication in Nature Communications, a prestigious journal.

Dr. Pamela Walck, assistant professor of journalism, McAnulty College and Graduate School of Liberal Arts, was named a Kopenhaver Center Fellow of the Lillian Lodge Kopenhaver Center for the Advancement of Women in Communication during the 100th Convention of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication in Chicago.

Dr. Lucia Osa-Melero, assistant professor of modern languages and literatures, and Carmen Martinez, adjunct lecturer in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, McAnulty College and Graduate School of Liberal Arts, were invited as guest speakers to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at the Army Corps of Engineers on Sept. 27. The pair shared their community-engaged program Reading to Play, Playing to Read to promote a way to connect Pittsburgh communities through education.
