Biomedical Engineering Students Present at Major Science Conference

Three Duquesne biomedical engineering students were invited to present at this year’s Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) annual conference, held Oct. 11 to 14 in Phoenix.

During the conference, Marissa Behun (BME ’19) displayed her work Fabrication of a Timed-Pressure Regulator (TPR) to Enable the Study of Bladder Pain; Angelo Miskalis (BME ’19) shared his research Localized Drug Delivery of Aspirin to Stent Sites Via Self-Assembled Monolayers; and Madelyn Hoying (BME’ 20) presented her discoveries in Stabilizing a Reference Laser for a Modified Michelson Interfermeter.

More than 4,000 scientists, students and engineering professionals from around the world attend the BMES Conference each year. BMES is the world’s leading society of professionals devoted to developing and using engineering and technology to advance human health and well-being. The Society hosts activities designed to communicate recent advances, discoveries and inventions; and promote education and professional development for biomedical engineers.
