Points of Pride: University Earns Rankings for Education and Nursing Programs

The College Database Identifies Duquesne as a Top College for Teacher Education
The College Database, a comprehensive online source for information about U.S. colleges and universities, has selected Duquesne University as among the top colleges in the state for teacher education.

A new list entitled Top Colleges in Pennsylvania: Shaping the Next Generation, highlights the post-secondary institutions in Pennsylvania that produced the most education graduates during the 2012 school year.

“Many colleges and universities have tremendous teacher education programs,” said Doug Jones, founder of The College Database. “But which ones are producing the most young educators today? We wanted to identify the colleges making the largest impact on our students.”

Duquesne was No. 21 on the listed of 88 schools.

The College Database selects top U.S. teacher education colleges from four-year, nonprofit public and private institutions that are fully accredited, with at least 10 graduates from education or teaching programs in 2012.

U.S. News Ranks DU Nursing School No. 6 Among Best Online Programs
The Duquesne University School of Nursing has been ranked No. 6 in the nation among the Best Online Graduate Nursing Programs by U.S. News and World Report. In addition, the University overall was ranked No. 93 of 210 schools in the Best Online Bachelor’s Degree programs category.

The 2014 Best Online Education Program Rankings, released today by U.S. News, marks a move up for the School of Nursing, which was ranked No. 7 in 2013.

“The latest U.S. News best online program ranking is a credit to the strength of our faculty and students, who make the Duquesne University School of Nursing one of the most innovative nursing schools in the country,” said Dr. Mary Ellen Glasgow, dean and professor of nursing.
