Duquesne Offers Solutions to New Year’s Resolutions

With 2013 around the corner, New Year’s resolutions are not far behind.

The idea of starting the New Year off on the right foot can be inspiring, but daunting said Donna Steed, assistant director of human resources-benefits, which is why Duquesne is committed to helping the campus community get the most out of their resolutions through its Wellness in Motion’s New Year, New Goals initiative.

Starting in January, a variety of fitness and wellness programs that address many of the most common resolutions will be offered. Topics include healthy eating, wealth management, physical fitness and spending more time with family.

Employees will be able to schedule one-on-one appointments at the Center for Pharmacy Care to receive free health screenings such as thyroid and anemia testing as well as smoking cessation assistance. Appointments will be available through the end of February by calling 412.396.2155.

“It’s common for people to establish goals in the new year, but achieving those goals can be challenging,” said Steed. “These programs are designed to help keep employees on track. The best part is that they can add these activities to their Wellness in Motion Log and qualify for the Wellness in Motion monthly gift card drawings.”

Sponsored by the Wellness in Motion initiative, these programs will be available to all University employees at no cost.
