Wellness Programs Support Employees’ Efforts to Adopt Healthy Lifestyles

This summer, Duquesne will offer two new lunch-and-learn programs designed to help support the health and wellness of the University community. Sponsored by Wellness in Motion, programs will be held from noon to 1 p.m. and are open to all employees at no cost.

Registered dietician Kari Halloran will explain why healthy eating begins at the grocery store and not in the kitchen during Shopping Smart for Health on Tuesday, June 11, in Room 205 of the Power Center.

Fit Over 50, a four-part informational session, will be held in the Africa Room starting on Friday, June 14. Presented by Dr. Paula Turocy, co-chair of the Department of Athletic Training, the session will focus on how to get and stay healthy and develop a fitness plan designed for adults at or approaching the age of 50. Registration is required for each of the following Fit Over 50 programs:

  • Basic Cardiorespiratory Exercise, June 14
  • Advanced Cardiorespiratory Exercise, Monday, June17
  • Basic Strength and Muscle Development Exercise, Friday, June 21
  • Advanced Strength and Muscle Development Exercise, Monday, June 24
