Faculty & Staff Spotlight

Dr. Clifford Bob, professor of political science and the Raymond J. Kelley Endowed Chair in International Relations, presented the paper Contention, Resistance, and International Institutions at the Excellence Cluster in Normative Orders at Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany. While there, he also conducted a workshop for Ph.D. students at the university and the Frankfurt Peace Research Institute. In addition, Bob presented the paper Marketing Humanitarian Causes at the University of Bologna’s (Italy) Department of Sociology and Communication.

Dr. Patrick Burke, assistant professor of composition and music technology, was one of five local composers commissioned by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (PSO) to contribute one movement each to a Pittsburgh-themed work titled The Elements. The composers’ pieces were featured as part of the PSO’s The Planets: An HD Odyssey, a celebration of Pittsburgh composers, held Feb. 7-9 at Heinz Hall.
