Celebration of Teaching Excellence to Honor Educator Innovation, Effectiveness

Faculty and future college educators will be honored for innovation and teaching excellence at the Center for Teaching Excellence’s (CTE) annual Celebration of Teaching Excellence.

The awards, which will be conferred by Provost Dr. Timothy Austin on Thursday, April 10, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the Power Center Ballroom, include the Creative Teaching Award and the Graduate Student Award for Excellence in Teaching.

The Creative Teaching Award recognizes faculty who have implemented innovative ways of teaching and have demonstrated the impact of these methods on student learning. • Drs. Ana Siquiera, Jay Liebowitz and Naga Sivasubramaniam, business

Janet Astle and Christine O’Neil, pharmacy; Drs. Lynn Simko, and Yvonne Weideman, nursing.

The Graduate Student Award for Excellence in Teaching promotes and rewards teaching effectiveness by current graduate students and provides nominees with practical experience on how to present evidence of teaching excellence. Nominees created remarkable portfolios, with award winners demonstrating ways to integrate rigorous learning with creative teaching strategies. The award recipients are:

  • Natasha Dias, biology
  • Amanda Gleixner, pharmacy
