NurseJournal.org has ranked Duquesne No. 19 among the Top 50 Most Social Media Friendly Nursing Schools of 2014. This year’s ranking marks a 14 spot jump for the School of Nursing, which was ranked No. 33 last year.
For its ranking methodology, NurseJournal.org evaluated hundreds of nursing schools to see which have the strongest presence among social media platforms, specifically Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Google, Pinterest, Flickr, Instragram and Nurses Lounge, a professional networking site just for nurses.
According to NurseJournal.org, social media “is constantly changing, so schools must reevaluate their strategies regularly and decide which platforms maintain a presence and how much interaction to engage in with their followers.” This year, NurseJournal.org put more emphasis on the social media platforms that are most popular with nursing schools—Facebook, Nurses Lounge, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn.
“The School of Nursing has leveraged social media to recruit potential students as well as stay connected to current students and alumni,” said Nursing Dean Dr. Mary Ellen Glasgow. “We value social media and its ability to reach beyond our walls and enhance our relationships and brand.”
NurseJournal.org, a social community for new and existing nurses, provides a comprehensive resource for the career and education aspects of nursing.
