Annual Italian Classic Film Festival Underway

Members of the Duquesne community can enjoy a cinematic tour of Italy—all without leaving campus—via the annual Italian Classic Film Festival, now underway.

The series, which launched in February, continues through Sunday, April 26.

The next film, Swept Away/Travolti Da Un Insolito Destino Nell’Azzurro Mare D’Agosto, will be shown on Sunday, March 8, at 3 p.m. in Room 608 of the Union. The film follows the journey of a rich, spoiled socialite and a fisherman who find themselves stranded on a desert island, where material wealth means very little when faced with the struggle for survival.

Also included in the film festival are:

  • Scent of a Woman/Profumo Di Donna, Monday, March 16, 6 p.m., Room 725, Fisher Hall
  • ECCE Bombo, Monday, March 30, 6 p.m., Room 725, Fisher Hall
  • The Marquis of Grillo/Il Marchese Del Grillo, Sunday, April 12, 3 p.m., Room 608, Duquesne Union
  • Ginger and Fred, Sunday, April 26, 3 p.m., Africa Room, Duquesne Union.

The festival is sponsored by the Honorary Consulate of Italy/Pittsburgh, in collaboration with the 41st Western Pennsylvania Symposium on World Literatures and Duquesne’s Center for International Relations.
