‘U.S. News’ Ranks Many Duquesne Grad Programs Among the Best

Seven Duquesne University schools and/or graduate programs have been selected by U.S. News and World Report to be among the best in the nation.

An appropriate testament to the University’s academic excellence and commitment to its students, the newly released 2016 Best Graduate Schools featured the following Duquesne rankings by U.S. News:

  • The School of Law
No. 14 among legal writing programs, No. 48 among part-time law programs and No. 118 among law schools overall
  • The School of Education
    No. 149 among education schools
  • The John F. Donahue Graduate School of Business
No. 145 among part-time MBA programs
  • The John G. Rangos School of Health Sciences
No. 27 among physician assistant programs
  • The School of Nursing
    No. 75 among nursing schools.

The law school climbed three spots from last year to No. 118 overall out of the 198 accredited institutions that were considered.

“We’re thrilled that the law school has moved up in the national rankings for the third year in a row—this directly reflects the fact that, with the full support of the University, we have consciously maintained our entering standards while many other law schools have compromised those standards in order to fill seats,” said Law Dean Ken Gormley. “The recent high bar passage rates achieved by our graduates, and our nationally ranked Legal Research and Writing program, have also gained well-deserved attention and increased our standing vis-a-vis our peers across the country.”

Among 290 eligible institutions, the part-time MBA program in the John F. Donahue Graduate School of Business was ranked No. 145 and tied with seven other institutions. This program provides a flexible, convenient format that features evening and online classes for students.

The School of Education was ranked No. 149, tying with three other institutions, among the 246 eligible schools considered by U.S. News. Its graduate offerings include masters and doctoral degrees, post-masters certificate programs as well as certifications, endorsements and post-baccalaureate programs.

This year’s rankings also include five areas in health that were last updated in 2011. Duquesne’s entry-level Master’s of Physician Assistant Program was ranked No. 27 among 145 accredited programs in the nation that were surveyed.

In addition, the School of Nursing advanced 52 spots to No. 75, cracking the top 100 for the first time in the Best Graduate Schools list.
