Red Masquers’ Fundraiser to Benefit Lemieux Foundation

The Red Masquers are preparing for their annual One Acts for Charity event, which aims to support a well-known local organization.

Proceeds from One Acts for Charity—which will be staged Wednesday, April 29, at 8 p.m. in the Peter Mills Auditorium of Rockwell Hall—will benefit the Mario Lemieux Foundation. The organization raises funds for cancer research and patient care, as well as Austin’s Playroom Project, an initiative that creates playrooms for children and families in medical facilities.

One Acts for Charity features four one-act plays directed and performed by students. This year’s plays include Tennessee Williams’ Auto-da-Fe, Thornton Wilder’s The Happy Journey to Trenton and Camden, John J. Wooten’s The Role of Della and F. J. Hartland’s Clean Sheets.

One Acts for Charity captures what the Red Masquers are about in a truly fantastic way,” said Caitlin Young, Red Masqers’ secretary. “We hope to show not only how committed we are to theatrical excellence, but how important helping the community is to us.”

The Red Masquers will be accepting donations instead of charging admission to One Acts for Charity.
