Funds totaling $402,034 were awarded to the Gumberg Library, the School of Nursing, the Mylan School of Pharmacy, the Bayer School of Natural and Environmental Sciences, and the School of Law.

  • David Nolfi, health sciences librarian, and Dr. Melissa Kalarchian, associate dean for research in nursing, $12,638, from the National Institutes of Health/National Library of Medicine on a subcontract with the University of Pittsburgh, for Systematic Reviews in Health Sciences Education and Research: Increasing Collaboration Between the Schools and Library.
  • Dr. James Drennen, associate dean of research and graduate programs in the pharmacy school, $237,000, from the Food and Drug Administration on a subcontract with the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Technology and Education for QDB Approach to Process Development: Defining Critical Quality Attributes, Evaluating Critically Across Scales, and Relating Variations in CPPS/CQAS to Product Performance.
  • Dr. Brady Porter, associate professor of biological sciences, and student Brian Trevelline, $2,396, from the American Ornithologists’ Union, for The Effects of Stream Acidification on Trophic Niche Differentiation in Riparian Songbird Communities.
  • School of Law, $150,000, Year 19 funding from the PA IOLTA (Interest on Lawyers’ Trust Accounts) Board to develop and enhance clinical legal education programs for law students. This brings the total award to date to $3.38 million. Funds will be administered by Laurie Serafino and Tracey McCants Lewis.
