Grants Received

Funds totaling $198,353 were awarded to the Bayer School of Natural and Environmental Sciences and the Mylan School of Pharmacy.

  • Dr. Fatiha Benmokhtar, assistant professor of physics, $20,353, on a subcontract from the Jefferson Laboratory from the U.S. Department of Energy. Benmokhtar serves as one of the key personnel on a project to examine the commissioning and calibration procedures of the CLAS12RICH detector.
  • Dr. Jennifer Elliott, assistant professor of pharmacy, a two-year, $177,000 award, from the Jefferson Regional Foundation, to support a project that will provide surveillance and treatment of asthma in Clairton schoolchildren. The award will extend through June 2017.
  • Dr. Jennifer Aitken, associate professor of chemistry and biochemistry, $1,000 in additional funding, from the Spectroscopy Society of Pittsburgh for the Project SEED Program, which provides an opportunity for economically disadvantaged high school students to be introduced to work in the chemistry labs at Duquesne. This brings the total award amount to date to $202,160.99.
