‘Forbes’ Calls Duquesne One of ‘America’s Top Colleges’

Looking at student outcomes, Forbes again has named Duquesne one of America’s Top Colleges for 2015.

Duquesne is again on Forbes’ list of top colleges in America.

Duquesne was listed as No. 129 among research universities, No. 120 in the Northeast and No. 312 on the 650-school list. The rankings were based on five weighted measurements:

  • Student satisfaction
  • Student debt
  • Academic success
  • Graduation rate
  • Post-graduate success.

Forbes considered student transfer and retention rates; low student-to-faculty ratios; whether students graduated in four years; acceptance rate; and the amount of financial aid awarded.

“We ignore the abstract (reputation) and wasteful (spending-per-student) to focus on one measurement: outcome. From career success to student debt, this rank counts what matters,” explained staff writer Caroline Howard on the Forbes website.

“It’s rewarding when external firms such as Forbes validate the results of our efforts,” said Paul-James Cukanna, associate provost for enrollment management. “It’s even more meaningful since our work is aligned solely with the Spiritan mission of service to students rather than with any external ranking entity.”

This the eighth year for the America’s Top Colleges ranking.
