Red Masquers to Present Annual ‘Premieres XXIX’

The Red Masquers’ season continues with Premieres XXIX, a series of one-act plays written by students, alumni and faculty and produced exclusively by student directors, actors and crews.

The series opens tonight, Wednesday, Dec. 2, and continues through Saturday, Dec. 5. All performances will be held at 8 p.m. in the Genesius Theater.

According to John Lane, associate professor and director of the theater arts program, Premieres is the longest-running new play festival in Pittsburgh. “It presents an invaluable resource for local playwrights to see their work produced for the first time,” said Lane.

This year’s original one-act performances will be:

• Duck, Duck, Goose!, written by Bela Matyas Feher
• For My Life, written by Jacob Leonowitz
• Charlie and Lorraine, written by Kristen Kompare
• Face-Down, written by Christina Levi.

All performances are open to the public and free to attend; however, the Red Masquers will be accepting donations to benefit the Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council in lieu of charging admission.
