Top Publisher Signed for New Book Series Housed in the Institute for Ethics in Business

The International Association for Business and Society (IABS) has secured a top publisher for its new annual book series, Business and Society 360, which will be based in Duquesne’s Institute for Ethics in Business.

Dr. David Wasieleski

Each book in the series will offer a compilation of peer-reviewed chapters and will complement the academic journal distributed by IABS, an organization promoting research on the connections between business, government and society.

The series will be published by Emerald Group Publishing, a leader in the ethics space, and is anticipated to begin next year. The series will continue for at least the next five years under the leadership of co-editors Dr. David Wasieleski, chair of management and marketing, and associate professor of management; and Dr. James Weber, executive director of the Institute for Ethics in Business and professor of management.

Dr. James Weber

“This book series fills a void that has existed for a number of decades and provides a comprehensive, multi-discipline review of select major fields of study in business and society,” Weber said. “We are delighted that Emerald and IABS agreed to award us the editorial leadership of this important contribution and to have the strong support of the business school’s dean and the University.”

“Drs. Wasieleski and Weber had a winning vision for this book series from the beginning, and it’s very gratifying to see all their hard work recognized by both IABS and Emerald,” said Dr. Dean McFarlin, dean of the Palumbo-Donahue School of Business.

The Beard Faculty Resource Fund in Ethics will support the project, including the co-editors’ expenses, while publishing, production and marketing costs will be covered by Emerald and IABS.

“We believe this is an important book series that will help reshape the field and bring a much-needed interdisciplinary perspective to important business and society issues,” McFarlin said. “In doing so, the series will help further elevate our school’s reputation as a thought leader in the business ethics space.”
