Duquesne Observes MLK Day at On and Off-Campus Events

Numerous Duquesne students, faculty and staff commemorated Martin Luther King Day by attending the Office of Diversity and Inclusion’s Martin Luther King Celebration Luncheon on Jan. 13.

President Ken Gormley and Duquesne students joined Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf and other guests on Jan. 16 at the 18th annual Martin Luther King, Jr., Prayer Breakfast, hosted by the Allegheny County Bar Association’s Homer S. Brown Division, in Pittsburgh’s Hill District neighborhood.

Students and staff also met on Jan. 16 to discuss the impact and legacy of the Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court ruling. In addition, Gormley discussed the film Charles Houston, Thurgood Marshall and the Real Story of Brown v. Board of Education and shared stories about an interview he did with the late U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Thurgood Marshall.
