Duquesne Hosts Italian Film to Commemorate Holocaust Remembrance Day

The University’s Model European Union Club will host a showing of the film La Tregua (The Truce) to commemorate International Holocaust Remembrance Day tonight, Wednesday, Feb. 1, at 6 p.m. in Room 725 of Fisher Hall.

La Tregua tells the true story of Italian Jews returning home from Auschwitz during World War II. Directed by award-winning director Francesco Rosi, the movie is an adaptation of Primo Levi’s memoir about his life during the Holocaust.

The film screening is co-sponsored by the Honorary Consulate of Italy/Pittsburgh and the 43rd Western Pennsylvania Symposium on World Literatures.

The event is free and open to the public. At-will donations and proceeds from raffle tickets will support current earthquake relief efforts of the Italian Red Cross.
