Career Services Center Moving to Student Union

New Locations for Employee Dining to Open in Late Summer

Getting a job after college is a top priority for students, and internships and employer connections are key to landing that first position after graduation.

For Duquesne students, the Career Services Center plays a vital role in making those connections and successfully transitioning from college to the working world. In order to meet increased demand for career assistance, the Center is moving to bigger space in the heart of campus—the sixth floor of the Union.

“According to recent research by the National Association of Colleges and Employers, employers expect to increase their hiring of new college grads,” said Nicole Feldhues, director of Career Services. “About 75 percent of our students find at least one internship or career-related experience through the Center. Re-locating to the Union—a thriving center of student activities—will allow us to better reach and assist even more students.”

The Center will be built in the current City View Café space, and faculty and staff dining will relocate to the private dining room in Hogan Dining Hall and a specially designated area in the Red Ring. Renovations in the Union will begin after commencement with opening of the new center slated for January. The new employee dining spaces will be available late this summer. A salad bar option will also be added to the Red Ring later this year.

In addition to being the hub for all things career-related, the updated Career Services environment will benefit not only Duquesne students exploring careers and seeking opportunities but also employer partners and alumni who visit campus to hire and help prepare students for a successful future.
