Register Now for the 16th Annual Katie Westbrook 5K and Dog Walk

The campus community is invited to register for the 16th annual Katie Westbrook 5k and Dog Walk on Saturday, Sept. 23, on campus.

Hosted by the School of Law, the annual race is dedicated to the memory of Katie Westbrook, a local girl whose dream at age 13 was to become a lawyer. Westbrook, who suffered from a rare bone cancer, passed away at age 15, just before she was to be presented with an honorary degree from the law school.

In addition, Westbrook’s dream to become a lawyer is honored through the Student Bar Association Centennial Endowed Fund, which provides scholarships to current law students. Last year’s race raised approximately $5,000 for the fund.

Participants in this year’s event are also asked to bring pet food and toy donations for the University’s Paws on the Bluff initiative. Additionally, proceeds from the event’s raffle will benefit the initiative.

Registration is $10 for students and $15 for faculty, staff, alumni and friends, and includes a race t-shirt. Event check-in will begin at 8 a.m. and the race begins at 9 a.m. For more information, contact Robin Connors at connorsr@duq.edu or 412.396.6186.
