Fifth Annual Health and Wellness Fair in Market Square Slated

Professional pharmacy student organizations will offer a wide variety of events and activities at the School of Pharmacy’s fifth annual Health and Wellness Fair next week.

Hosted in conjunction with American Pharmacists Month, the Health and Wellness Fair will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Market Square. The event is sponsored in part by Giant Eagle Pharmacy.

“As the most accessible health care provider, pharmacists are in a position to provide immunizations, screening services, disease state counseling and medication management services,” said Dr. Janet Astle, assistant dean for student services in the pharmacy school. “Our presence in Market Square is consistent with our pharmacy school’s mission to improve health outcomes of patients and their communities. We celebrate that in a special way during American Pharmacists Month.”

Among the 24 activities and offerings available at the event are:

  • Complimentary diabetes screenings
  • Body composition analysis
  • Carbon monoxide screenings
  • Free blood pressure screenings
  • Complimentary cardiac risk assessments
  • Smoking cessation information
  • Numerous product samples.

Flu vaccines, which are billable to insurance, will be available through Giant Eagle Pharmacy at the Health and Wellness Fair. Additional offerings include Zumba in the Square and a variety of raffle baskets.
