Call for Proposals: The Pittsburgh Regional Faculty Symposium

The Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) is collaborating with regional colleges and universities on the inaugural Pittsburgh Regional Faculty Symposium to be held on Friday, March 16, 2018. The event will be hosted by the University and CTE, with support from the Pittsburgh Council on Higher Education and by Colleagues in Connection, a regional professional development collaborative.

The symposium will focus on discovering the power of small changes in teaching and learning in higher education that promote student learning and are:

  • Known to benefit students equitably
  • Achievable by instructors in varied contexts
  • Open to creativity
  • Based on principles of learning.

Duquesne faculty, graduate students, librarians, instructional designers and others involved in teaching and learning or educational development are invited to submit proposals for the symposium across the following four session types:

  • Concurrent Interactive Workshops
  • Steal My Idea/Pecha Kucha
  • Recipes for Success
  • Posters.

Details on the symposium session types are also available online.

Sessions may be presented independently, in pairs or small groups of three or four. The deadline for submitting a proposal is Wednesday, Nov. 1. For more information and to submit a proposal, click here.

The proposals will be blind reviewed by colleagues from across the region between Thursday, Nov. 2, and Friday, Dec. 1. Applicants whose proposals are accepted will be notified by Monday, Dec. 11.
