Second United Way Donor Appreciation Social, Other Campaign Events Planned

Duquesne’s United Way committee is hosting a special donor appreciation event for those who make a commitment to this year’s campaign.

Employees who make a donation in any amount to the United Way Campaign before Wednesday, Nov. 8, will be invited to attend a Celebrate and Give Thanks donor appreciation social on Thursday, Nov. 9, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Red Ring. Prizes to be raffled off at the event include Penguins tickets, an Apple watch, Beats headphones, a Steelers football signed by Ryan Shazier and more.

Thanks to the generosity of the campus community, the campaign has reached more than 50 percent of its $108,000 monetary goal and is ahead in participation levels as compared to this time last year.

Other scheduled United Way Campaign events include:

  • Ballroom Dancing on the Bluff, sponsored by CTS, on Friday, Nov. 3, 6 to 9:30 p.m., Union Ballroom. Visit www.duq.edu/unitedwaydance for more information.
  • Holiday Hoagie, Wreath, Ornament and Craft Sale, sponsored by the School of Pharmacy, Friday, Nov. 10. Hoagies must be pre-ordered by Friday, Nov. 3, by contacting Bobbi Diller at 412.396.4853 or diller@duq.edu.
  • Music Lovers Basket Raffle, sponsored by the Mary Pappert School of Music. Tickets can be purchased for $5 in Room 317 of the music school.

“The holiday season is a time to reflect and be thankful,” said Bill Zilcosky, senior director of facilities, services and operations and chair of this year’s campaign. “This year, I am very thankful for everyone who took the time to support our campaign. We still have some work to do, but together we can meet our goals and help build a better future for so many in our communities.”

Whether employees donate $1 a week or more, any donation will grant them admission to the event. All contributions to the campaign, no matter the size, support the dozens of worthy programs that address the various needs of local communities.

Employees who haven’t contributed yet and wish to do so, can donate online at www.duq.edu/unitedway.
