United Way Campaign Gaining Momentum Through Events

Duquesne’s 2017 United Way campaign is off to a great start, already raising nearly $55,000 and receiving pledges from more than 100 first-time donors.

Bill Zilcosky, senior director of facilities, services and operations who is this year’s campaign chair, said he’s excited to see the campaign making steady progress. “We’ve had a great start and expect momentum to continue to build as we move forward with various upcoming events,” said Zilcosky.

Zilcosky and campaign co-chair Cheryl Knoch, assistant vice president for student life, welcomed nearly 100 employees to DUQtoberfest, a special Octoberfest-themed donor appreciation event held on Oct. 13 at the Red Ring.

“The Duquesne community is an amazing group that always steps up and lends support to those in need,” said Zilcosky. “We want our donors to know how much their gift means to both those relying on a United Way agency and to those who serve on the campaign team.”

Employees who make a donation in any amount the United Way Campaign before Wednesday, Nov. 8, will be invited to attend a donor appreciation reception on Thursday, Nov. 9. Employees can donate online.
