Funds totaling $404,918 were recently received by the School of Law, the Bayer School of Natural and Environmental Sciences (BSNES), the School of Nursing, the McAnulty College and Graduate School of Liberal Arts, and the School of Education.

  • School of Law, $25,000, from the PNC Charitable Trust, for student and faculty support, and outreach and engagement efforts. The Hon. Maureen Lally-Green, dean of the School of Law, will administer the award.
  • Dr. John Pollock, professor of biological sciences (BSNES), $25,459, from the National Institutes of Health, for A Partnership in Neuroscience Education.
  • Charlotte Hacker, a student of Dr. Jan Janecka, assistant professor of biological sciences, BSNES, $3,500, from Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, for Noninvasive Genetic Survey of Snow Leopards (Panthera Uncia) In an Unsampled Region of China for Resolution of Subspecies Boundaries.
  • Dr. Jan Janecka, assistant professor of biological sciences, BSNES, $5,550, from the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium, for African White-Bellied Pangolin Genetics to Assist with Captive Management Program.
  • Dr. John Pollock, professor of biological sciences, BSNES, $229,126, from the National Institutes of Health, for A Partnership in Neuroscience Education.
  • Dr. Rebecca Kronk, associate professor of nursing, $100,000, from the Hearst Foundation, to support the research and development of an undergraduate simulation program that will incorporate standardized patients with disabilities into the curriculum-learning environment to provide equitable, competent and evidence-based care for patients with disabilities.
  • Dr. Elizabeth Fein, assistant professor of psychology, McAnulty College, a $8,283 Faculty Development Fund award, for Social Connection Through Creative Community: An Ethnographic Study of Participation in the Furry Fandom Among Youth on the Autism Spectrum.
  • Dr. Maureen O’Brien, associate professor of theology, McAnulty College, a $4,000 Loogman Faculty Research Grant, for A Study of Catechists in the Diocese of Sekondi-Takoradi, Ghana.
  • Dr. Tammy Hughes, professor and chair in the Department of Counseling, Psychology and Special Education, School of Education, a $4,000 Loogman Faculty Research Grant, for Assessing Acculturation, Mental Health and Trauma Symptoms Among Ethiopian Emigrants in the U.S.
