Annual Mass of the Holy Spirit Launches New Academic Year
Nearly 2,000 students, faculty, staff, alumni and guests gathered for the annual Mass of the Holy Spirit on Aug. 26.
The Most. Rev. David A. Zubik, D.D., bishop of Pittsburgh, presided over the Mass with the Very Rev. John Fogarty, C.S.Sp., superior general of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit, and the Very Rev. Jeffrey T. Duaime, C.S.Sp., provincial superior for the United States Province of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit. Numerous Spiritans, student priests and diocesan priests also participated.
The Mass, which serves as the official kick off for the new academic year, featured members of the incoming freshman class and other students as well as student and staff cantors, choir members and musicians.
President Ken Gormley also shared words of encouragement for the upcoming school year.
