Funds totaling $283,790 were recently received by the Rangos School of Health Sciences, the School of Pharmacy, the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and the Learning Skills Center.
- Jamie Munoz and Anne Marie Hansen, Department of Occupational Therapy, Rangos School of Health Sciences, $20,000, from the Frederic W. Sammons Donor Fund of the Renaissance Charitable Foundation, to support Hansen’s work with occupational therapists in East Africa.
- Jamie McConaha, associate professor of pharmacy, School of Pharmacy, $2,000, from Pfizer Incorporated, for a smoking cessation program.
- John Stolz, professor of environmental microbiology and director of the Center for Environmental Research and Education, $129,000, from the Colcom Foundation, for Surveying of Well Water Quality in Western Pennsylvania in Areas With Unconventional Gas Drilling.
- Mary McKinney, director of the SBDC, $9,990, from the AARP Foundation, for Work for Yourself@50+ Phase II: Ready to Launch. The program educates low-income adults ages 50 and older on the pros and cons of self-employment and provides them with the early steps they need to take to be successful.
- Program for Academic Excellence, Learning Skills Center, $122,800, from the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency. Dr. Judith Griggs, director of the Learning Skills Center, will administer the award.
