‘Pittsburgh Magazine’ Names Pharmacy Professor 40 Under 40 Honoree
Pittsburgh Magazine has recognized Dr. Jennifer Elliott, associate professor in the School of Pharmacy, among its 2018 class of 40 Under 40 honorees.
Each year, the magazine and the organization PUMP (Pittsburgh Urban Magnet Project) recognize 40 outstanding individuals under the age of 40 whose creativity, vision and passion enrich the Pittsburgh region.
Elliott, a 2007 graduate of the pharmacy school, has spent the last 10 years working on initiatives to improve asthma outcomes for thousands of children in the Pittsburgh region. She led a team that developed a community-based screening model to identify children with undiagnosed and uncontrolled asthma and connect them with appropriate care. Elliott also created school-based asthma clinics that are offered at seven Allegheny County schools with high asthma rates and limited access to care. These free services have benefited children in underserved schools and communities throughout the county.
In addition, Elliott has been a long-time advocate for many children’s health initiatives, serving as a founding board member of the Mid-Atlantic Mothers Milk Bank; developing a clinical pharmacy service at The Children’s Institute of Pittsburgh; and providing counsel to boards of several non-profit organizations with an interest in pediatrics, including For Your Good Health.
Elliott and the other honorees will be featured in the November issue of Pittsburgh Magazine.
