Gumberg Library will introduce a formal art exhibit program next month featuring the work of University students, faculty and staff.

Duquesne student Brennan Bizon is an award-winning custom sneaker artist.

The program launches Monday, Oct. 8, with DUQ Creates: Bizon Custom Sneaker Art, which will showcase Brennan Bizon, a junior marketing major in the Palumbo-Donahue School of Business and award-winning artist of custom sneakers.

“We’re thrilled to share the innovative and creative works of student Brennan Bizon and his celebrated sneaker art,” Dr. Sara Baron, University librarian, said. “Brennan has been featured by local news media and in a variety of social media platforms for his unique sneaker art worn by athletes and celebrities.”

Free and open to the public, DUQ Creates: Bizon Custom Sneaker Art will be on exhibit through Wednesday, Oct. 31, in the fourth-floor Popular Reading Room of Gumberg Library. A reception for faculty, staff and students will be held Tuesday, Oct. 9, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Popular Reading Room to celebrate the exhibit.

Bizon Customs has drawn clients from around the globe. Clients include friends as well as musical artists and athletes. Pittsburgh Steeler James Conner recently wore a pair of cleats designed by Bizon that pay tribute to late hometown rapper Mac Miller (as seen here on E News).

DUQ Creates will feature art and creative works by students during each fall semester and faculty and staff during the spring semester. Exhibits may be personalized or thematic, individual or collective.

“Many of us have other creative aspects of our lives,” Baron said. “This is a great opportunity to share what we do, and we also hope that this program will contribute to the sense of community at Duquesne.”

An application/proposal form will be developed for future DUQ Creates exhibits and will be reviewed by a committee. Anyone interested in serving on this committee is asked to contact Baron at barons1@duq.edu.
