Annual History Forum to Focus on Civil Unrest in the 1960s

The University’s annual history forum will focus on the times and spaces of 1968—a period of youth protests, civil unrest and global government repression—and how the legacies of the ‘60s continue to shape culture and politics today.

History Forum 2018

The Times and Spaces of 1968 will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. in the Africa Room of the Union. Dr. Julian Bourg, associate professor of history at Boston College, will deliver the keynote address.

The history department selects the annual forum topic based on an issue or event that has an anniversary date in that respective year. This year marks the 50th anniversary of 1968, a year of global youth protest.

The history forum is free and open to the public. A reception will follow.
