Phenomenology Center Co-Founder to be Honored at Symposium

The 37th Annual Simon Silverman Phenomenology Center Symposium will focus on the scholarship of center co-founder and leading modern philosopher Dr. John Sallis.

The 37th Annual Simon Silverman Phenomenology Center SymposiumFree and open to the public, John Sallis: A Celebration of His Work will be held Thursday, Oct. 25, through Saturday, Oct. 27, in the Africa Room of the Union.

Considered one of the most innovative contemporary philosophers, Sallis is the Frederick J. Adelmann, S.J. Professor of Philosophy at Boston College. In 1980, he co-founded the Phenomenology Center with Dr. Amedeo Giorgi as an expression of the phenomenological orientation of Duquesne’s philosophy and psychology departments.

Sallis is the founding editor of the journal Research in Phenomenology and general editor of Studies in Continental Thought. He has lectured throughout Europe, Asia, and North and South America and is the author of more than 20 books.
