Law Students Win Regional Champion Title at TYLA National Trial Competition

Third-year law students Erin Corcoran, Travis Gordon and Samantha Kovalyak earned the title of regional champions after defeating a team from Temple University Beasley School of Law during the final round of the regional competition of the Texas Young Lawyers Association (TYLA) National Trial Competition in Philadelphia.

Kovalyak was awarded one of the competition’s two Best Advocate awards. The team, coached by law school alumni Maggie Cooney, Bob Daley, Anthony Hassey and Andrew Rothey, will compete in the national finals from Wednesday, March 27, through Sunday, March 31, in San Antonio.

Established in 1975, the TYLA National Trial Competition is designed to encourage and strengthen students’ advocacy skills and promote interaction with members of the bench and bar. The program is co-sponsored by the American College of Trial Lawyers.
