Grants Received

Funds totaling $64,123 were recently received by the School of Education, the City Music Center and the School of Nursing.

  • Jason Margolis, professor of instruction and leadership, School of Education, $45,314, from the Nellie Mae Educational Foundation passed through the University of Pennsylvania. Margolis will co-lead a study of promising teacher leadership programs around the United States, with special attention to those promoting student-centered instruction, and an in-depth, mixed method investigation of the implementation and impacts of two promising programs.
  • City Music Center, $15,309, from the Anna L. and Benjamin Perlow fund of the Pittsburgh Foundation, to support student scholarships in the Mary Pappert School of Music under direction of the City Music Center. Dr. Thomas Carsecka, executive director of the City Music Center, will administer the award.
  • Angela Karakachian, visiting instructor, School of Nursing, $3,500, from the International Association of Forensic Nurses, to support Nurses’ Moral Distress as They Care for Victims of Child Maltreatment.
