Move-In Parking, Traffic Restrictions Announced

Duquesne University’s annual Freshman Move-In will take place from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20.

During this time, surface parking will be prohibited on all campus streets. Surface permit holders must park in the Forbes and Locust garages and must enter the garages via the Forbes Avenue entrance. Individuals with permits for gated surface lots can park in their respective lots.

The move-in route will be as follows:

  • Shingiss Street, Boyd Street and McAnulty Drive from Forbes Avenue to the Locust Street intersection will be one way onto campus.
  • Traffic will then be one way on McAnulty Drive from Locust Street to Bluff Street to Stevenson Street. Traffic also will be one way from McAnulty Drive to Locust Street to Seitz Street to Vickroy Street.
  • All traffic will exit campus onto Stevenson Street. Entrance onto campus from Stevenson Street will be prohibited. Traffic on Stevenson Street will be one way from Bluff Street to Locust Street.

“No Parking” signs will be posted to mark parking restrictions along the move-in route, which will go into effect at 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 19, and continue through upper class move-in at various campus locations until 11 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25. Due to construction nearby and inside the building, Brottier Hall move-in will begin at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21, and continue through 11 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25, including no over-night parking. This will increase traffic along McAnulty Drive and Locust Street, and parking will be restricted during this time.

Vehicles parked along the route during this restricted time period will be towed. Surface parking permit holders will be permitted to park in the Forbes Garage during this time.

No deliveries will be permitted on Tuesday, Aug. 20, for Freshman Move-In. Please notify vendors concerning parking restrictions for on-campus deliveries during the remainder of the week.
