Campus to Celebrate Spiritan History, Traditions During Heritage Week
The University community will celebrate Duquesne’s heritage as a Catholic Spiritan University during its annual Heritage Week.
“Heritage Week is centered around both the university birthday on Oct. 1 and the Feast Day of Spiritan founder Claude des Places on Oct. 2, making it the perfect week to celebrate our Catholic Spiritan mission and our university history,” said Luci-Jo DiMaggio, director of mission animation in the Division of Mission and Identity.
The annual Heritage Week includes events for faculty, staff and students, such as:
- Blanket Making Luncheon, 30, Noon, Africa Room, RSVP required
- Wine into Water, 30, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Africa Room, to support Pure Thirst and the Spiritan Mission in Olkokola, Tanzania, Purchase tickets (must be 21 and over)
- University Birthday Party, 1, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Academic Walk
- Feast Day of Claude Poullart des Places Mass, Oct. 2, Noon, University Chapel
- Feast Day Luncheon, 2, 12:45 p.m., Africa Room, RSVP required
- Feast on Feast Day Giveaway (Free Nachos), 2, 2 p.m., PNC Atrium, Union
