New Agape Latte Program Set to Inspire Duquesne Community
Spiritan Campus Ministry is launching Agape Latte, a new speaker series that offers faculty, staff and students an opportunity to engage in “caffeinated conversations” about the intersection of faith and life.
“Agape is derived from the Greek word for the selfless, sacrificial and unconditional love of God,” Campus Minister Deborah Kostosky said. “And, well, the word ‘latte’ is for the free coffee and desserts offered at each month’s event!”
Jeff Mallory, assistant vice president of diversity, inclusion and student advancement, will share his story about “The Path Less Traveled” at the inaugural program Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 7 p.m. in the Union’s second-floor atrium. The informal setting will include trivia and prizes along with music performed by Duquesne student Noah Pepmeyer.
“We are very excited about bringing this program to our Duquesne community,” the Rev. Bill Christy, C.S.Sp., director of Spiritan Campus Ministry, said. “You will start to see more excitement around campus as the program’s student leadership board wears their Agape Latte pins and T-shirts. We hope that each speaker’s faith journey inspires others to explore and discuss their own relationship with God.”
Agape Latte originated at Boston College and has since spread to more than 44 colleges and universities as well as some high schools.
