PPA Honors School of Pharmacy Faculty and Staff at Annual Conference

Four members of the School of Pharmacy faculty and staff were recognized Sept. 21 during the Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association (PPA) 2019 Annual Conference at Seven Springs Mountain Resort.

The honorees included:

  • Dr. Janet Astle, assistant dean for student services, received the Bowl of Hygeia Award, which recognizes a Pennsylvania pharmacist who has demonstrated sustained commitment to community service. It is the highest award bestowed by a state pharmacy association.
  • School of Pharmacy Dean Dr. Doug Bricker received the Mortar and Pestle Award—an award of special recognition presented at the discretion of the PPA Board of Directors—which honors a lifetime of outstanding service to the pharmacy profession.
  • Dr. A.J. Greco, assistant professor of pharmacy practice, received the J. Allen Duffield Pharmaceutical Industry Award, which recognizes an individual for his or her efforts in supporting and participating in PPA activities and programs as well as contributions to the betterment of the profession.
  • Dr. Emily Lohr, experiential education coordinator, received the George H. Searight Community Service Award, which is presented to an individual who has demonstrated outstanding community service that enhances the image of the pharmacy profession.

The PPA is a professional membership organization of more than 2,300 pharmacists and pharmacy students across the state.
