21st Annual Veterans Day Breakfast to Bring 700 Veterans, Guests to Campus

Duquesne will host more than 700 veterans and guests on Monday, Nov. 11, at one of the largest Veterans Day breakfasts in Pennsylvania.

Annual Veterans Day BreakfastThe 21st annual Veterans Day Breakfast, which draws those who served in WWII to the recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. in the Union Ballroom. Veterans will have the opportunity share their stories from 10-11 a.m.

The event is sponsored by the Veterans Leadership Program (VLP) of Western Pennsylvania, Inc., an independent nonprofit that has been assisting local veterans since 1982 with housing, employment and supportive services.

This year’s breakfast will focus on the humanitarian contributions of Vietnam veterans and will highlight two initiatives led by Vietnam veterans. Dr. Todd DePastino, VLP founder and executive director, is among the speakers at the event.

VLP is donating proceeds from the breakfast to Shepherd’s Heart Fellowship, Friends of Danang and the Duquesne University Endowed Veteran Student Resource Fund, which supports veteran students’ non-tuition needs like books, housing, parking fees and more.
