Duquesne to Commemorate Kristallnacht with Public Lecture

Duquesne will host an emeritus professor from the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies during its fifth annual Kristallnacht commemoration event and lecture.

Dr. Colin Shindler will present The Road from Kristallnacht: Unlearning the Past Monday, Nov. 11, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Power Center Ballroom.

Kristallnacht, also referred to as the “night of broken glass,” happened Nov. 9 to 10, 1938, when Nazis in Germany vandalized thousands of Jewish homes, schools, businesses and synagogues, killing nearly 100 Jews. During the raid, Nazis arrested 30,000 Jewish men and sent them to concentration camps.

Free and open to the public, the lecture is sponsored by the Jewish Studies Forum, the McAnulty College and Graduate School of Liberal Arts, the Nathan and Helen Goldrich Foundation and Classrooms Without Borders.
