United Way Campaign Update Includes New Opportunities for Giving

Duquesne’s annual United Way Campaign continues, with additional incentives, events and activities.

Employees who make a minimum online pledge of $2 per pay ($52 per year) by tomorrow, Thursday, Nov. 7, will be will be invited to the Friday, Nov. 8, Celebrate and Give Thanks donor appreciation reception which will feature seasonal fare and prize drawings for those in attendance. In addition, these donors will receive an entry in the November prize drawing for a Starbuck’s Cup a Day at the campus Starbucks, a pair of tickets to a Penguins game and a Zamboni ride at the Duquesne/United Way Night with the Penguins in February (details to be announced).

These donors also will be eligible a grand prize drawing entry for a free annual Duquesne University parking permit and an autographed Bryan Rust Pittsburgh Penguins jersey with Certificate of Authenticity.

Other new United Way Campaign activities include:

• The School of Law’s “Fall” for the United Way Treat Sale, Wednesday, Nov. 13, all day, beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the second-floor atrium of the Union and in the law school Student Lounge: Items for sale include chocolate caramel gourmet apples $5, gourmet popcorn $4 large/$2 small, flowering plants $5—free gourds with purchase while supplies last.
• School of Nursing 2019 Winter Flower Sale in Memory of Karen Kmetz:: order winter wreaths, poinsettias and more by Wednesday, Nov. 20. Pick up will be Tuesday, Dec. 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Union Ballroom. Contact Leigh Anne Rethage at 412.396.1481 for more information and an order form.

Also, remember that pick up for the School of Pharmacy Wreath, Ornament, Craft Sale and Hoagie sale will be held tomorrow, Nov. 7, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Bayer Learning Center Rotunda.

Ticket sales for the Office of Human Resources raffle for the D.U. Spirit, Game Day Essentials and Date Night baskets concludes Friday, Nov. 8. Tickets can be purchased tomorrow, Nov. 7, 12 to 2 p.m. in the second-floor atrium of the Union.

Tickets for the CTS Steelers Dec. 15 Game Day Raffle can be purchased in the Computer Store or by emailing Jerry Fauls at faulsj@duq.edu. The winner can pick up a growler of his/her favorite brew at Couch Brewery (21+ only) on the way to the game, tailgate while listening to pregame hype on a new pair of Beats headphones and hit Heinz Field before the game for a unique experience before watching the game under new Duquesne throw blanket. The winner also will receive $100 in Visa gift cards for snacks and souvenirs.

Tickets will be on sale for the School of Nursing Thanksgiving Basket in the Union on Friday, Nov. 8, Tuesday, Nov. 12, and Monday, Nov. 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The basket includes a $40 Giant Eagle gift card, a fall tablecloth, turkey platter, two Thanksgiving dish towels, a bottle of wine, corkscrew, spoon rest, two fall mugs and more.
