State Supreme Court Justice Swears Law Alumni into Pennsylvania Bar

More than 20 new lawyers who graduated from the School of Law were sworn into the Pennsylvania Bar at a special Admissions Ceremony on campus Nov. 5.

Photo from Bar CeremonyFamily and friends watched as State Supreme Court Justice Max Baer, a 1975 graduate of the law school, officiated the ceremony during which State Supreme Court Justice Christine Donohue, a 1980 law graduate, also presided. Law Dean April Barton also attended the ceremony and gave remarks.

“I love the morality and spiritualism of Duquesne,” Baer said during the ceremony. “If you are honest, trustworthy and conscientious from day one, you will be successful, regardless of where your journey takes you. What I hope for you is that when you look back on your life as I do, it will be with pride and peace.”

“Congratulations. This is not an easy accomplishment,” added Donohue. “And, the practice of law, when done with integrity, is hard. It takes time, effort and always a little bit of fear that you aren’t 100% right.”
