Annual Phenomenology Center Symposium to Highlight Impressionism

The Simon Silverman Phenomenology Center’s 38th annual symposium will focus on the intersections of art, music and psychology.

Experiencing Art: Phenomenology, Impressionism and Beyond will be held on Thursday, March 12, and Friday, March 13, in the Gumberg Library’s Phenomenology Center.

The keynote speakers are Dr. Jessica Wiskus, professor of musicianship in Duquesne’s Mary Pappert School of Music, and Dr. Tone Roald, associate professor of psychology at the University of Copenhagen.

Wiskus is a prominent philosopher of art and music with special interests in Merleau-Ponty, Aristotle and Augustine. Roald is an accomplished psychologist whose research combines empirical-qualitative and theoretical approaches to understanding the experience of art.
