Little Friday Night Music

Each Friday night from now through May, the School of Music will release a previously recorded concert by student or faculty ensembles at 7:30 p.m. on its YouTube channel. The series, A Little Friday Night Music, is a play on Mozart’s renowned Eine Kleine Nachtmusik (A Little Night Music).

A Little Friday Night Music kicked off March 27 with a performance of French composer Camille Saint-Saëns’ The Carnival of the Animals, featuring Duquesne President Ken Gormley as narrator. The concert drew more than 600 live views from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany and France.

The concert series continues Friday, April 3, with the Duquesne Wind Symphony’s performance of the Death Scene from the Russian opera Boris Gudanov. The performance features voice faculty member Guenko Guechev and was recorded live Feb. 7, 2019, at Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland.
