Letters were recently sent to all employee households explaining important benefit changes for the 2020-2021 open enrollment period. A full list of changes with more information is available in the online Benefits Overview booklet. Some of those changes include the following:

  • Working spouses who have access to medical coverage through their employer will be subject to a $76.93 per pay spousal contribution charge for enrollment in all medical plans, including high-deductible health plans.
  • The Cigna OAP and UPMC EPO copay for outpatient behavioral health is decreasing from $40 to $20 per visit.
  • The University is adjusting deductibles for high-deductible health plans and out-of-pocket maximums for Cigna OAP and UPMC EPO plans.
  • The University’s prescription plan with CVS Caremark now has a program feature that provides employees ways to obtain reduced-price specialty prescriptions. Information regarding this new program will be communicated directly to those with specialty prescriptions.
  • Basic dental plan pricing remains the same, and enhanced dental plan prices have been reduced by 4.8%.
  • The balance of plan expenses covered by the University (80%) and by individuals (20%) remains the same.

Updates about the open enrollment period will be provided by email or posted to the benefits website at duq.edu/benefits. To enroll in new benefits next week, click on the website’s “Log-In or Enroll Now” button to access account.

Benefits office staff are available at benefits@duq.edu to help employees who have questions or to arrange a virtual appointment to complete online enrollment.
