Next Virtual Music Concert to Feature Original Works by Music Faculty Member

Original compositions by Associate Professor of Music Technology Lynn Purse will be featured in the Mary Pappert School of Music’s next A Little Friday Night Music virtual concert Friday, May 1.

Little Friday Night MusicThe Compositions of Lynn Purse will premiere on the School of Music’s YouTube channel at 7:30 p.m.

Duquesne’s Electronic Ensemble will perform Purse’s piece Watershed (movements II and III), with adjunct professor and Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra musician Adam Liu on ehru and cello. This performance was recorded live in PNC Recital Hall Feb. 5, 2018.

The Duquesne Symphony Orchestra and conductor Daniel Meyer with Mike Tomaro on saxophone also will perform Purse’s Arcadian Tone Poems. This piece was recorded live at Carnegie Music Hall Feb.19, 2019.

Purse, a graduate of the music school, serves as area coordinator of composition in the school and also is the co-conductor of the electronic ensembles.

A Little Friday Night Music is a play on Mozart’s renowned Eine Kleine Nachtmusik (A Little Night Music). Each Friday through May, the Mary Pappert School of Music will release a previously recorded concert on its YouTube channel that features student or faculty ensembles.
