CESTL Seeks Faculty for Community-Engagement Mentorship

The Community-Engaged Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Institute (CESTL) will launch its inaugural cohort in spring 2021. CESTL matches faculty with coaches who assist with research goals related to community-engaged scholarship.

By building multidisciplinary teams, the institute aims to build community across campus and offer peer development opportunities that result in the publication or presentation of community-engaged scholarship.

CESTL is recruiting five small groups, each of which will receive a $200 stipend to participate. Interested faculty can attend a virtual informational meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 23, from 3 to 4 p.m. Attendees can participate in the meeting as individuals or as part of an already formed research or community-engagement group. The meeting will provide an opportunity for faculty to discuss their interests, and those who are not already part of a team will be placed in a group.

“This scholarship is a cohesive force that binds the university to its community. It proves that teaching, research and service are mutually reinforcing, and showcases what we have to offer to our disciplines and to our place here in the heart of Pittsburgh,” said Dr. Sarah Breckenridge Wright, assistant professor of English and one of CESTL’s founders.

Interested faculty can register for the informational meeting online. For additional information, contact Dr. Jessica Mann at mannj@duq.edu, Dr. Amy Mattila at mattilaa@duq.edu or Dr. Sarah Breckenridge Wright at wrights3@duq.edu.
