Following the success of the first Wellbeing Day held on March 16, the Division of Student Life, the Center for Student Wellbeing and the University will present another Wellbeing Day on Wednesday, April 14. It will feature another round of live, interactive and self-guided wellbeing activities designed to nourish the mind, body and spirit.

“While this day was set aside for recreation, leisure and respite, the hope is that self-care becomes an important part of your lifestyle,” said Dr. Ian Edwards, assistant vice president for student wellbeing. “In working together, we can make the promotion of wellbeing integral to what it means to be a Duquesne student, faculty or staff member and further establish a culture of wellbeing on our campus.”

The Center for Student Wellbeing recognizes that a holistic approach to the human person is synonymous with wholeness and wellbeing. The April 14 wellbeing activities, which are listed online, offer an integrated approach to increase motivation, enhance self-worth and reduce anxiety, and prepare for everyday challenges.

Among the planned topics and activities are:

  • How to handle stressful thoughts
  • Breathing techniques
  • Guided body scan meditation
  • A cardio Latin dance workout
  • A wellness Spotify playlist
  • Live and virtual group mindfulness sessions.

In addition, the Division of Student Life is hosting various tables with free giveaways on A-Walk and other campus locations. Stop by the Food Truck Frenzy on Bluff Street from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for offerings from the likes of Bados Pizza, Bruster’s Ice Cream, Nakama, Southside BBQ and more.

Review the full schedule of April 14 events, which includes planting with the President, chalk art, virtual meditation sessions, mural splash painting, yoga on Brottier Lawn, Wellness Bingo, a cookout on the Commons and much more.

Employees and students are reminded to continue to comply with all standard COVID-19 protocols and guidelines, including wearing masks and practicing social distancing.
