Learn Together Through Sexual Assault Awareness Month Events, Activities

In conjunction with April designated as Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), all members of the University community are encouraged to engage in educational activities and dialogue aimed at eliminating sexual assault and violence.

Sexual Assualt Awareness MonthThis week, the Office of Title IX and Sexual Misconduct Prevention and Response is focusing on bystander intervention to help individuals recognize a potentially harmful situation or interaction and help to positively influence the outcome. The office also hosted a virtual interactive bystander intervention workshop with Pittsburgh Action Against Rape (PAAR).

SAAM programming also has important information about Duquesne’s Title IX resources and reporting options.

Alicia Simpson, the University’s new title IX coordinator and director of sexual misconduct prevention and response, recently spent time in the Union introducing herself to students and passing out Be Safe Cards, which include contact information for University and community resources and more.
