Students Work, Learn Together at Undergraduate Research Symposium

More than 250 students from across Duquesne’s undergraduate schools will share their research work via live oral presentations, poster sessions and a creative video competition during the 13th annual Undergraduate Research and Scholarship Symposium (URSS).

Undergraduate esearch & Scholarship SymposiumThis year’s event featuring 170 projects will be held virtually from Monday, April 12, through Friday, April 16. Students, faculty, judges and attendees can learn together by providing questions and posting comments during the symposium.

Among the URSS research topics are:

  • The health care system’s response to COVID-19
  • The connections between technology and social isolation
  • A generational study of women’s view of themselves in the workforce
  • The effect of counterfeit medications on global health.

Information on the events, which are provided by various schools and departments, is available on this year’s URSS website. Awardees will be invited to submit papers for digital publication in the Duquesne Scholarship Collection.

The event is being hosted on the Symposium platform created by ForagerOne, which collaborates with many higher education and research institutions. The platform will go live at 8 a.m. April 12.

The Office of Research, which sponsors the URSS, encourages students to participate in research early in their academic careers. It offers opportunities for students to expand their horizons and gain a better understanding of their respective fields.
